Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
100% Local-First & Offline
Your focus sprints, Thoughts, session history, and preferences are stored on your Mac. Pomo does not sync productivity data to our servers or a cloud database.
Zero Analytics & Tracking
The Pomo app does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or behavioral tracking. It does not monitor which apps you use or read your screen contents.
1. Our Core Privacy Philosophy
At Pomo, we believe software should respect your attention and your privacy. A desk timer should do its job cleanly without monitoring what apps you run or harvesting your personal habits.
Pomo is engineered as a standalone native macOS application. Productivity data stays on your device. We do not operate user telemetry pipelines or behavioral sync servers for timer sessions.
2. Information Processed on Your Device
Data generated while using Pomo is stored locally on your Mac, including:
- Focus, short break, and long break duration preferences
- Recent session history (mode, duration, optional task title, Thoughts count)
- Thoughts you save during focus (text and timestamps you enter in the app)
- Daily goal, streak-style stats, and harvest counts
- Sound, tick, alarm, ambient audio, and haptic preferences
- Floating tomato size, position, and display options
This information is saved in macOS UserDefaults for the Pomo app (bundle identifier com.devyansh.pomodoro). It is not uploaded to Silicon Apps or any third party as part of normal timer use.
Your license key and activation record are stored in the macOS Keychain on the device where you activated Pomo.
3. macOS System Permissions & Audio
Pomo uses standard macOS capabilities for a native desk experience:
- Notifications: Optional alerts when a focus session or break ends (if you allow notifications for Pomo in System Settings).
- Audio: Optional mechanical ticking is generated on-device. The default bell alarm plays a bundled audio file from the app. Other alert sounds may use macOS system sounds. Optional ambient backgrounds are synthesized locally. Audio playback does not require streaming from the internet.
Pomo is a menu bar app (LSUIElement). It does not request Accessibility permission and does not read keystrokes or window titles from other applications.
4. Purchases & License Activation
Payments and license key delivery are handled by our Merchant of Record, Dodo Payments (dodopayments.com).
- Dodo Payments processes your payment and tax compliance. We do not receive or store your full credit card numbers or banking details.
- Dodo Payments typically shares your purchase email address with us so we can deliver your license key and support your order. Contact support@siliconapps.dev if you have questions about purchase records.
- To activate and keep your license valid, Pomo contacts Dodo's license API over HTTPS. Requests include your license key, an activation instance identifier, and a short device label (your Mac's localized host name plus "macOS"). No timer sessions, Thoughts, task titles, or usage analytics are sent.
- After activation, Pomo may re-validate your license about once per day when the internet is available. If validation cannot reach Dodo, you may continue using Pomo in an offline grace period for up to 14 days after the last successful check, after which activation must be verified again.
- Activation limits depend on your plan (1 Mac or up to 3 Macs), enforced by Dodo Payments during activation.
5. This Website (pomo.siliconapps.dev)
The Pomo marketing site (including the interactive timer preview) runs in your browser. We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics scripts in the site source code.
Like most websites, our hosting provider may process standard server logs (for example IP address, user agent, and requested URL) for security and reliability. Checkout happens on Dodo Payments' pages, which have their own privacy terms.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete individual Thoughts and session history inside the app where those controls are offered. To remove local data entirely, quit Pomo, delete the app from Applications, and remove its preferences (UserDefaults for com.devyansh.pomodoro) and Keychain entry if you activated a license. Deactivating via Settings → License → Remove on this Mac frees an activation seat on Dodo's servers.
7. Changes to This Policy
Any future updates to this Privacy Policy will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Our design goal remains local-first storage of your productivity data in the app.
